The Master of Arts in Church Music (M.A. in Church Music) is a master-level seminary degree that focuses on Christian music in the past and present. Most seminary schools’ programs combine a specialized focus on music with several broad seminary courses. Programs may include performance, research or both.
Most M.A. in Church Music degree programs require a bachelor degree or equivalent. The degree may be professionally useful for worship pastors and Christian musicians, among others. In academia, an M.A. in Church Music may be used to go onto doctoral level work, usually in research.
