Evangelical Bible colleges are colleges that usually have two primary focuses. The first is that these colleges focus on preparing students for ministry and church leadership in Evangelical churches. They often have a distinct leaning towards teaching Pauline doctrine, the second is missions. Pauline doctrine focuses on the works and teachings of the Apostle Paul and his travels and teachings as an evangelizer for Christ.
The tenants of this theological base are being born again through faith in Jesus and through the change of heart known as repentance and the necessity to spread the teachings of Christ to others. However, not all evangelist churches focus as much on certain aspects of these teachings, they can be considered fundamentals of their theological teachings. Historically Evangelical theology is part of the basis for the Reformation.
Evangelical Bible colleges prepare students to lead and minister in Evangelical churches which are often loose knit non-denominational churches without a core hierarchy of international oversight. Therefore, any church that self-identifies as Evangelical falls under this general outline. These Bible colleges often have certificate, associate and bachelor’s degree programs which may or may not be nationally accredited.
